In this episode of Pioneers of Outlaw Country, we travel back to the vanished railroad town of Cinnabar, once the bustling gateway to Yellowstone National Park.

Born overnight as a frontier depot and abandoned just as quickly, Cinnabar was a place of wild saloons, hurried fortunes, presidential boredom, and a railroad that determined its fate. When the tracks moved on, the town vanished—but some say the train never did.

 Ghost Town Of Yellowstone: Cinnabar

I first heard of Cinnabar when I read “Yellowstone Ghost Stories: Spooky Tales From the World’s First National Park” by Shellie Larios. She shared the story of a spectral train which would pull up once a year to a town that was no longer there.

As I dug deeper into the story, I discovered that Cinnabar had quite the wild past! Join me as we explore this frontier night that sprang up in a night - and disappeared just as suddenly! For more information, I would suggest visiting Geyser Bob’s website

This story first appeared on Cowboy State Daily on October 30, 2025 titled: Haunted Wyoming: Spectral Train Still Runs Through Ghost Town of Cinnabar
